People in Burma have continued to seek refuge since the military seized power in a neighboring country in February and tried to crush the revolution. Nagaland, one of the four northeastern states bordering Burma, has become a refuge for Nargis in Burma, said State Minister Neiba Kronu.

The Naga people are mostly from Sagaing Region and Kachin State.

Kronu said an assessment was being made on the number of refugees crossing into Myanmar from Nagaland. Most are said to have entered Mon State. The three Nagaland districts border Myanmar.

Kronu said they were "our (Naga) people" and that civil society and church organizations were expanding their assistance to them for humanitarian reasons.

"We do not know the exact number of people entering the state," he said. We will have to decide that soon, ”said Kronu.

Since March, about 13,000 people, mostly from Chin State, have sought refuge in Mizoram.
