Two days of fighting between the military council and the CDF in Matupi

 

Five people were killed and two others were wounded in a clash between the military council and the CDF in Matupi, Chin State on January 3, according to the CDF Matupi.




A CDF Matupi member said fighting continued this morning, January 4, near the camp.




"There were no casualties on either side this morning. The situation is still tense. The military is shelling."




At around 7:30 am on January 3, the CDF Matupi stormed a military base on the Matupi-Paletwa road, killing five people and wounding 10 others.




Two soldiers were also captured alive during a clash between Pha Naing and Ngalai villages on the Matupi-Hakha road at about 5.30 pm yesterday, the statement said.




RFA has not been able to confirm the incident separately and is trying to contact the military council's Deputy Information Minister, General Zaw Min Tun.




Matupi and Hakha; Fighting on the roads between Matupi and Paletwa has forced more than 1,500 villagers to flee.
