Russia will move its strategic nuclear weapons to the western border of Belarus, the Russian ambassador to Belarus said.

This is likely to make the standoff with NATO worse as it is located near NATO's Eastern European border, Reuters reported.

Russia will keep nuclear weapons in its ally Belarus, President Putin said on March 26, in Russia's most overt nuclear signal since its invasion of Ukraine more than a year ago.

Although Mr. Gazilak did not say exactly where the nuclear weapons would be kept, he confirmed that the nuclear weapons storage facility, which President Putin said would be completed by July 1, would be completed on time and moved to the western border of Belarus.

Lithuania and Latvia in the north of Belarus. To the west lies Poland, all of which are NATO's Eastern European border countries, and where NATO has been stockpiling personnel since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
